'Your Planet Needs You - UNite to Combat Climate Change'.

The theme for World Environment Day 2009 is 'Your Planet Needs You - UNite to Combat Climate Change'. World Environment Day 2009’s host is Mexico which reflects the growing role of the Latin American country in the fight against climate change, including its growing participation in the carbon markets.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has launched a major worldwide tree planting campaign. Under the Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign, UNEP has set a new goal of planting 7 billion trees by the end of 2009.(for more information: http://www.unep.org/billiontreecampaign/

• One day workshop  was held on 13 August '08 with the state and the local level media at SFA’s office in Ghaizabad. The media briefing was attended by 5 correspondents (including bureau chief of amar ujala) and joint Director and Deputy Director of UPJN, Ghaziabad.
