3 days training programme on Operationalizing module for School health and hygiene theme

A three day's training program was organized for the NGO partners working on the school health and hygiene theme. The basic principles that form the background of the entire design were that if the aim is to bring in behavioral changes in the children then the focus of training the personnel that is supposed to interact with the children essentially needs to be on two major things:

a) Understanding the psycho-social as well as cognitive and emotional features of the age group that they are supposed to interact with and at the same time learning to design the strategies that help in effectively reaching out to them;

b) Developing a conceptual as well as practical understanding of the 'Activity Based Learning'.

Process description -

• discussion with partner NGOs with regards to message delivery under the programme, observing field activities, consultation with other govt officials etc
• developing the methodology to deliver the content through structured format
• major themes covered understanding child psychology, planning an activity with children, do's and don'ts of activity with children, preparing tentatively while gaining hands on skill on some programme activities
• share n set follow up strategy together with participants

Outputs -

• Availability of content material on environment education for Std III-V
• Promotion of the programme activities under the SHH
• Enhanced understanding of the participants upon planning and preparing for effective execution of the activities and learning to design the mechanisms of efficient follow up.
